Returns & claims

Please choose carefully when placing your order.

Natural grasscloth wallcovering is a specialised product made from handwoven natural fibres. For this reason, all wallpaper roll orders are considered final once confirmed, except where required by Australian Consumer Law.

Samples

Samples are provided as a guide to colour, texture and weave.

Due to the natural characteristics of grasscloth, samples may not show the full range of variation that may appear across a complete roll or installed wall.

Samples are not refundable or returnable.

Wallpaper rolls

Wallpaper rolls are not returnable for change of mind, over-ordering, incorrect quantity calculations, or because the product is no longer required.

Please ensure you order carefully and confirm all quantities with your wallpaper installer before placing your order.

We do not accept returns for excess rolls or project overage.

Custom and special orders

Custom orders, special orders and products ordered specifically for your project cannot be cancelled, returned or refunded once confirmed, unless required by Australian Consumer Law.

This includes custom colours, custom materials, special quantities and any product not held as part of our standard Australian inventory.

Inspecting your order

All wallpaper must be inspected carefully before cutting, pasting or hanging.

Please check that you have received the correct product, colourway, quantity and condition.

If you believe there is an issue with your order, please contact The Wallpaper Atelier before installation begins.

Installation claims

Once installation has commenced, the first three drops must be inspected carefully before proceeding further.

If there are any concerns about the product, colour, appearance, quality or installation result, installation must stop immediately and The Wallpaper Atelier must be contacted before any additional material is cut or hung.

Claims cannot be accepted once more than three drops have been cut or installed, except where required by Australian Consumer Law.

The Wallpaper Atelier does not accept claims for labour, installation, removal, reinstallation or other associated costs where installation continues after a visible issue should reasonably have been identified.

Natural variation

Grasscloth is a natural handmade product and variation is expected.

The following are inherent characteristics of grasscloth and are not considered faults:

  • visible seams between panels

  • colour variation from panel to panel

  • colour variation from roll to roll

  • variation between samples and finished rolls

  • texture and weave irregularities

  • slubbing, fibre movement and tonal shifts

  • natural differences caused by light, layout and installation direction

These qualities are part of the character and beauty of natural grasscloth.

Damaged or incorrect items

If your order arrives damaged or incorrect, please contact us as soon as possible.

Please retain the product, original packaging and delivery materials, and provide clear photographs of the issue.

We will assess the matter and, where appropriate, provide a remedy in accordance with your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

Timeframe for claims

Any claim relating to incorrect, damaged or potentially defective goods should be made as soon as possible and preferably within 30 days of the invoice date.

This allows us to assess the issue promptly and properly.

This timeframe does not limit any rights you may have under Australian Consumer Law.

Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts or modifies any rights you may have under Australian Consumer Law.

If a product has a major problem, you may be entitled to a replacement or refund. If a product has a minor problem, you may be entitled to have the issue remedied within a reasonable time.
